TT if I remember correctly, you started something like this a few months ago. It came in for a barrage of criticism eventually, because it just became a vehicle for your repeating the salient points of your reasoning behind wanting to change everything. Anyone who raised an objection was battered with highlighted chunks of your previous posts - which was your way of insisting that people weren't listening to you, and not taking everything you said on board. You had in due course to give it up. But obviously not permanently!
I don't doubt your motives but personally I wish you'd leave things alone. People just won't follow your strict guidelines and this business of wanting the moderators to act as your personal Stasi and throw their weight about ordering posters to behave themselves is comical to say the least.
It does no harm to do a bit of utter rambling from time to time and I'm at it often enough. The thought of a dead serious thread is not attractive. Matched betting is a bit of a soulless pursuit, admittedly enlightened by the thought of the moolah, and we do need a break from the monotony of it all.0 -
Ok, why not have two sub-forums, one for general MB related chat and one for "offers only". The offers only would preferably be moderated offers which need approval prior to it being uploaded. However this would need more mods!0

I agree, BUT tried that style already. This seems a better compromise.:)TT if I remember correctly, you started something like this a few months ago. I think this is a better idea this time around, I know we can all do it together.:)
I agree schiff that 'a bit of utter rambling from time to time' is fine.:)tartantipster wrote: »6. To be honest even the new threads that advertise and notify us of a new offer start to get full of utter ramblings. We need to keep everything in new offer threads strictly to the point, short, and entirely related to the OP. If you want to chat one another up you can PM one another. I don't want to sound like a stick in the mud, and I accept that a certain amount of 'chat' will take place in a thread but we can try and cut it down.
If we can achieve the first five points that would make this GIOL Forum a world beater!0 -
Thread moved to site feedback. (in keeping with this brand new idea)
Please remember that board guides are not moderators (although I occassionally delete a thread, it is mostly the spam button and the forum team who do that). I am not paid, I have a full time job that keeps me busy enough already. If you want that level of personal care, may I suggest you go to a site that does charge members as paying them will incentivise them to your ideas.0 -

How about:
1. I would like to make a suggestion that we make a new STICKY titled: STEP 4 General Questions & Chat Thread.
Should I email Martin about this and/or would you be kind enough to forward him a request?:)
It’s been said over and over again but I do genuinely think we need another board guide (more board guides all round actually, it seems, if your burgeoning responsibilities are anything to go by); there should be one for each Forum, ideally. I do understand and sympathise with your predicament, and the situation in general. I am a member of another Forum, which does offer exactly the type of personal service I mention, only they have enough board guides/moderators to deal with every eventuality. Perhaps Martin is taking the whole scrimping thing a bit too far, especially as there are members willing to do the job for free.
I'd gladly be the GIOL board guide, for free, of course. I'm sure we could get 1 board guide for each Forum, i.e. a prominent member of each Forum. I think I’d make an excellent GIOL board guide, as my heart is really in this GIOL Forum. You would see an instant transformation. I would have NO problem giving up as much of my personal time as was necessary to deal with anything as it arises.
Well, if we could have the new STICKY titled: STEP 4 General Questions & Chat Thread, then we, the GIOL community, as we are largely self-regulated, could take care of my proposition ourselves.:)0 -
Loving the irony!Debt Free
.......... Mortgage Free

we have previously trialled a chat thread as outlined by you and members at the time complained that it too totalitarian. I can't comment on board guides as mse team have ignored my requests so far.perhaps you would like to open communication with martin on that point?0
