Morrisons out-of-date pack

Options
Hope I'm on the correct forum to post this question.

I returned an item to Morrisons which, I discovered later, was out-of-date. When I made a special journey to return it, I was refunded the cost of the item, with an apology, of course for the inconvenience I'd been caused. I expected my money back, plus the same again as compensation for their mistake, but it didn't happen. The assistant said Morrisons do not offer double refund.

OK  - that was news to me - and I was a bit disappointed that they don't offer the same service as Tesco and Waitrose in that respect. Anyone else had the same problems with Morrisons (they don't have a policy on their website - nor contact details).

    hi,
Same here, this is going to be my second time i've had to return an out of date item, i got my shopping yesterday, and noticed it today. The last time, i didn;t even get an apology, i don't even expect one now, just going to go up and return the biccies and get my money back.
  • Hi malima - noticed you live in good old Glasgow too - maybe it's just us who are having problems. I always remember someone telling me to watch the dates when buying in Morrisons and I usually do - but definitely always will from now on - miserable devils (or words to that effect). xx

Is it just up here in scotland thats not doing anything for out of date stuff?
    Stingy scotland!!!!lol
  • I took some meat back to Morrisons (admittedly it was 2 years ago). I asked for a refund and I also asked for £5 of vouchers. (& got them) I explained to them calmly that they could have caused food poisoning to my family!
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

This link give guidelines on "use by" "best before" and "sell by" dates.

You could go to your local environmental health dept. with your item, and receipt, and let them investigate the matter further, as poor stock management in the shop could lead to someone getting seriously ill.
    I'm a nutter :j
  • skintandsad (good link here to sell by/use by/eat by...), northwest95, ilovemykids and malima - thank you! Methinks that a lot depends on assertiveness and mine is diminishing - years ago I would have fought for my rights. Maybe, in future, I'll return to the store as always, and if I'm not offered 'compensation' for the trouble they've caused me, I'll say to them loudly that I'll just go ahead and contact 'trading standards' or 'environmental health' and watch their reaction.:A xx
  • It's not just Morrisons who don't offer a double refund on faulty/mispriced/OOD products.
    Sainsbury's don't offer this either.

    It's only a game

I bought a joint of ready cooked pork and took it back home to make a lazy sunday dinner:D just about to serve dinner up when hubby announced that although he had carved the joint carefully-there was NO Meat-just fat:eek: Was so furious we took the whole joint of fat back the next day.(our nearest store is miles away). Needless to say they looked at me as if I was lying, said they couldn't understand it and did I want to complain!!! Yep- I did. They refunded me for the meat-sorry fat-logged in a book and said someone would contact me. Only contact I had was few weeks later from the people who supply their meat saying it was a one off and they only supply quality produce. No compensation for petrol or lack of sunday roast! Now I try to avoid morrisons. A sincere apology would have been a good start!

Well, took the biccies back today, NO APOLOGY, just.."there's your £1.39"(or something like that).
I didn't want to make a fuss, cause it was only biscuits. But their manners are terrible!!!
