morrisons dont give DTD back, just a plain refund of the original cost, and i suppose it is down to each stores discretion whether they give anything else, i.e vouchers to spend in store, but you are right the least they could do is apologiseTake every day as it comes!!0

Sainsbury's don't offer this either.0 -
Sainsbury's don't offer double refund but i work in the customer service desk in sainsburys and we tend to give a good will voucher. Normally for £5. If they don't offer you anything, ask to speak to a manager!! Maybe its just the managers at my work but they always give good will vouchers, some times for £20.0

I've had to go back to CS in Sainsbury's with wrongly priced items and never had a goodwill voucher, just a refund of the overcharge. It's high time all the supermarkets had a universal policy on overcharges."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thanks for the info on Sainsbury's guys. I have at least one misprice most weeks I go there and for all I prefer the own brand products and the ambience of the store I find their seeming inability to charge correctly very irritating.
I have never been offered any goodwill compensation, even when having to return to the store to get a refund. The CS staff are always polite and apologetic though, (much better than the Tesco staff who seem to resent giving any kind of refund as if it came from their own pocket!)
It's only a game

Do you people not look at what you are buying?
It only takes a second to look at the back.
I always look for the best date even on tins.0 -
it's true, I had an INCREDIBLY out of date battenburg cake delivered by Sainsburys. WEEKS out of date
When I rang up they were terribly apologetic and wanted all the details and they told me that the store would be in big trouble. Nothing in the way of compensation was offered to me however.MrsBartolozzi wrote: »It's not just Morrisons who don't offer a double refund on faulty/mispriced/OOD products.
Sainsbury's don't offer this either.Ellie

Who has time when they go shopping to check the date on every item, you expect the items are in date and if they arent its the companys fault and you should complain.
And Sorry, when i was talking about the good will voucher i was talking about out of date products. If some one has been over charged we just give them the difference back.0 -
So obviously I'm not the only one experiencing difficulties returning goods - thanks to everyone who responded.
I must say I think these stores who claim to be so wonderful in the service they offer their customers are getting away with murder (so to speak). They're not paying us for our service to them and in a way we're really doing their job for them - we check dates, return items, check prices etc and sometimes the extra money it costs us to return items comes out of our own pockets. They pay staff to do this work - why are we not compensated when we find errors made by them. Maybe this is one for Martin Lewis to pick up on and fight the big stores on our behalf. :money:.
But hold on ... ... ... do we have our very own devil in disguise in the guise of satan666wayne who always checks backs of tins and packets. Shame on the rest of us for not following suit (ho ho ho). Can I just say that on checking the packet on my goods before I bought it is said use by ... 09. It was only on opening the packet that the individual contents said July 09, but nevertheless black burning shame on me with my £45+ trolley of shopping that I got one item wrong. We shouldn't have to do this job - it's now ours to do - the big boys should, and could get it right - or recompense us when they're wrong! That would sort the decent stores out from the rest. xx0
