Play.com faulty goods

Options
I wonder if anyone can help?
I bought a sony e-book at play just over 2 months ago, and am noticing that the battery only lasts 3-400 pages instead of the stated 7000. I notice that play does not accept returns after 28 days (outside uk), and I have not got the invoice.
What would be the best way of sorting this out? Can I get an invoice copy from play, will a screen printout do for a sony repair or am I better off trying to claim off my credit card??
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

That return period doesn't relate to faulty goods. Have you contacted Play regarding this issue, you will have a 12 month manufacturers warranty to fall back on.

From what I can see, any order over 28 days cannot be returned.
I am unable to find an email address for play.

    Why not just ring them - 0845 800 1020

They'll probably just point you to the manufacturer anyway. Remember, play.com is a Jersey based company and are not subject to UK Consumer law.

OP please tell us more about your useage. Are you turning it off between 'reads' for example?

Always turn it off, one battery bar goes after around 100 pages, 2nd a hundred more, and the last 2 went off together after 100+ more. Just fully charged the reader, and the 1st bar again off after a little over 100 pages over 3 nights, switching off in between.

This isn't quite true, eg they have DSR as a member of the EU that came into force March 2008, ( they possibly have similar SoGA as well.)

    Jersey DSR

Product not as advertised, and life of battery doesn't last a 'satisfactory' length of time = money back/exchange.

Before you do anything, have a look on other internet forums and see if anyone else has the same problem, and see how they dealt with it.

Then contact Play and just explain that you aren't satisfied with the life of the battery - it doesn't last for as long as the advert said it would, and you would like an exchange (or refund if you want one).

Hope you get it sorted out!
