HDMI Splitter and Cable.

Dear all,

I was wondering if this made sense or not. I have a 10 metre hdmi cable, £14 worth which i have installed under my floorboards, and have bought a NeET 4 socket HDMI splitter, which I had attached my PS3, Mac Mini, and when i have it my freesat box, but the box has stopped working.

I phoned up the guy from whom I purchased it from and he has told me that because I dont have a "hefety hdmi cable" it will be no good. The cable still works individually.

Is this correct? I will have a very difficult job in pulling up some floorboards to replace cable.

Kind Regards

Rich

Can you test it with some shorter HDMI's? Sounds like it's gone, if it was working and now it isn't. SOGA might be your friend here.

The splitters lights have failed. The cable still works on my ps3 alone, and mac mini.

If the cable works then the cables fine

The problem is almost certainly the 'splitter'

The guy that sold it to me suggested that because I have a 10 meter cable the signal gets weekr????

And also said that we need a 24awg thickness is it?
I know there's a difference in price of these leads, but I didn't think it mattered to much.

You said the cable 'by itself' works fine?

Its quite possible with a 10m length that the extra (from whatever feeds INTO the splitter) is deteriorating the signal a little too much

Its easy to find, try another 'shorter' cable and see whether or not it works (To determine whether its the lead or the splitter)

10m is a very long length for a digital cable and you certainly can expect problems with such a long length
