Ok, have posted before about this problem but am a little further along:
DEll inspiron 1501 running xp pro keeps bsod-ing (irql-not-or-equal) but I have been unable to identify the driver using who crashed.
Running the dell drivers and utilities cd memory test brought up the following:
WCMch fail testing 355E2000h bytes with 02h CPUs
address = 0_0B8B2508h, actual = 04040406h, expected = 04040404 ambiguous SMBIOS data
then ran the troubleshooting utility (picked BSOD from symptom tree)
service tag DJYD03J
error code 4E2F:0219 system memory failure read FFFFFFFFh expected FFFFFFFDh at 1 address 0BFE9B98H
at this point the thing crashed
(abnormal program termination, stack fault CS:EIP = 019Ch:0000045Ah
Does ths mean it is a hardware problem and it crashes when the driver accesses the bad memory or a duff driver? What should I do next? replace RAM?
sorry if these are dumb questions but I'm a little out of my depth
Cheers

Update:
Think I've fixed it, identified the dodgy memory by taking one stick out then the other, then put the dodgy one in and out a few time to clean the contacts.
Memory test now coming back clear.
Genius!
Thanks to my step-dad for the taking it out and blowing on it- then putting it back in tip!
