Return without a receipt?

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times before. I bought some wallpaper from B&Q, i used all but one roll and want to return it but unfortunately, cannot not find the receipt.
I wouldn't expect a refund without a receipt but do you think I would get a credit note or would they just show me the door?

It depends on their returns policy. They may offer an exchange or credit note as a courtesy, but they are not obliged to.Gone ... or have I?0

Doesn't a bank or credit-card statement count as proof of purchase, if you can identify the relevant transaction? Assuming you didn't pay cash of course.I didn't study anything at school. They studied me.

Arguably, aren't you better off keeping the roll. I assume it matches the batch you bought from originally, so could be useful if any mishaps occur.0

Good point. If it were me, I'd hang onto it.
If you really want to take it back though, in my experience B&Q are very good over returns and will offer you a credit note if you've lost the receipt. The above poster is correct B&Q will give you a credit note for the current selling price. But it may be wise idea to keep a hole to hand just in case. As you can never be guaranteed the same batch if you need get some more0

I took the wallpaper back the next day, although i think the advice to hang on to it was a good idea, the good people of B&Q gave me a credit note, no problem. The assistant did advise me that they are changing their policy after Christmas and refunds will not be given without receipts.0 -
