Not sassy whathaveyou for once;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I am going to get the wifes Clio remapped soon, it is only a 68bhp, 1.5 dci, but is unbelievably slow, will be a better drive with another 20 or so bhp, very little mechanical differences between different power outputs of the same engine in the model of car.
The 120bhp Zafira has no real difference to the 150bhp model, though I have heard that some 120bhp models have an 8v engine rather than a 16v engine.
I have always chipped my cars when needed, in other words if it had hesitation from pulling away from standstill, like most 140bhp VW's diesels.
Somebody mentioned injectors, I think it unlikely that you could remap a diesel so that the injectors couldn't cope, we aren't talking about Evo's and Skylines here.
An increase of 10 or 15% over standard shouldn't cause to many problems, and so long as there is not a harsh delivery of boost then you shouldn't have too many issues with longevity of parts.
I have driven an 86bhp Clio Dci and it is easier to drive, and you don't have to rev it as hard as my wifes Clio Dci with 68bhp, which results in my wife not being able to break60mpg, a mate with an 86bhp version gets 67mpg, mainly due to the higher powered version having better drivability, so you don't have to drive it as hard.
Another example is my 130bhp Mondeo TDCi, I get better fuel consumption than a friend with a 115bhp version, he has to drive his harder than mine, he is currently looking at getting his remapped after driving mine.
When you check part numbers you can see that quite often these days a lot of components are the same, even on different powered versions of the same car, which negates any worries about parts wearing out sooner due to a bit more torque and power.
In the case of the Mondeo the 115bhp has a 5 speed gearbox and the 130bhp has a 6 speed, but if you look closer the 6 speed gearbox is also fitted to the 155bhp, and they share a lot of parts.
At the end if the day some people will believe that changing the manufacturers specs is tantamount to devil worship and some will view it that a car is only under full load for a fraction of it's life and a bit more oomph will make little or no difference to longevity.
A mate of mine used to do 70k a year as a minicab driver and courier, he used to use Galaxy's, he always had them remapped to improve drivability, except for the 115 TDi Auto as the gearbox was a weakspot, he did a minimum of 300k in his cars before replacing, and never had a failure of any component, except for the gearbox in his Auto. And he alsways got improved mpg after the remap.
You can make of that what you want.0
