  • Are these cheese triangles edible? I've never had them before, do you just put them straight in your mouth or do you do something with them?

Could someone please explain which part of the barcode explains if coupons are store specific, for example I saw that some of you have been using the Birds Eye Coupon from the Asda Magazine in Tesco. I thought if a voucher was in a store magazine you had to use it in that store?

It's not in the barcode, it's in the small print as to whether a moc is store specific.

You just have to read all the small-print - the bits that say 'to the retailer' and 'to the customer' and also look for any single store logo on the coupon.

So if a moc had an Asda logo on it, or said to the customer 'you can use this in any Asda store' or said to the retailer 'valid in Asda only' or something, then it's Asda specific. Also some mocs say something like 'to the Asda colleague' rather than 'to the retailer' which makes it obvious it's only for that store.

But if it doesn't have a single store logo on it, nor specifies a single store at all in the t&cs, or it just says something vague like 'product available in Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsburys and all major Supermarkets' then it's NOT store specific and can be used anywhere of course. You do have to buy the right product though (technically...).

Your Sainsburys plans would be fine, as long as you buy the products and meet the minimum spend for the £5 voucher. Or you could use them all in Tesco including the Sainsburys fiver if it's a conditional spend voucher (if it just says '£5 off when you spend £xx' and is in date).

I don't think Home Bargains do take coupons, going by other posts I have read in the past, but maybe someone can put me right if their HB does.

    NO PART of the BARCODE

Read the WRITING for the T&Cs of use

    A barcode like 99nnnnnnn1507 or 99nnnnnnn1197

The 7 is the check-digit for the other 12 numbers (calculated on each by their value and position) of the barcode that acts as a basic verification method to help prevent mis-scans.

The 99 means that the barcode IS A COUPON / VOUCHER and that a DISCOUNT is required - that is an amount should be DEDUCTED FROM the total and NOT ADDED to it.

The 3 digits 150 & 119 would indicate the value of the coupon - ie. £1.50 or £1.19

999 is the maximum - the amount field is ONLY 3 digits long so top value is £9.99

000 means the SA has to enter the discount amount - allows for varying item price / multiple product usage.
