I've had a DC04 for over 7 years, no problems, just had to replace the lifetime filter though last year. The quality may have gone down hill now they're built abroad.Next year we'll be millionaires!0

demented wrote:I totally agree with you MrLew. I have had nothing but trouble with the Dysons that i have bought, motor cuts out every 5 -10 mins. I bought one because they say its good for picking up Dog hairs (not) We have a medium-large white dog and the hairs are horrendus. Just for interest what model panasonic do you have? as i might try that one if it's any good with picking up animal hairs. Failing that it's Veet for the cat and dog.:D
Hi Demented,
The panasonic model we have is the MC-E4103 Ultra lightweight 1800W.
We also have a dog and it's fine at picking his hairs off the sofa. The dyson we had used to make hard work of this.
If you shop at costco (we got ours from there for about £80) you can always trial it for a month and take it back if you don't like it
Hope this helps0 -
We've had a Dyson for about 4 years. It broke twice. The first time (a switch) within warranty - they sent a new part which I fitted. The second time out of warranty (my Niece stamped on it!). They replaced the main body free of charge, even though I told them how it happened. I fitted it with a little instruction from them, although they did offer to send a fitter round (also free of charge). They replied to emails almost immediately, btw.
I'm disappointed to hear that others have had problems. But I'll be buying another Dyson when this one's due for retirement.
Best wishes, Neil0 -
I hate dyson, I have a DC07 and it does not clean up to the edge and the hose is difficult to manage and I cannot afford a new vacuum. I had a pet hoover and it died but it was so heavy I did not care. I only got it at Christmas. So back to the DC07 which had been consigned to upstairs hoovering only!

Should have kept quite, it went up in smoke today! 7 yars isn't too bad so I'll be looking for another dyson.Derek_Duval wrote:I've had a DC04 for over 7 years, no problems, just had to replace the lifetime filter though last year. ive had a dyson for 6 years and im now ready for a new hoover, the lead keeps cutting out and its not worth keep paying for it to be repaired, just brought a new one for a elderly man i clean for, reduced from £99 to £50 in argos, a samsonite, i think its brilliant, sucks up better than the dyson and really light and easy to use! im going to buy another for myself!

I totally agree. I think Dysons are really flimsy now compared to how they used to be made. We had a DC01 when they first came out and it was great, a solid built machine with quality tools etc. It lasted about 6-7 years and we then got the DC04, well to be honest i cant wait for it to go wrong so i can get a different one (probably be back on here later after saying this, to tell you all its gone bang!!) Since having this DC04 ive always said when it goes i will never buy another Dyson. The tools that come with it feel l ike they are going to snap and seem so cheap and flilmsy. You cant fault their warranty service though if you need parts, they send them straight out to you, no problem.MrLew wrote:This does sound like a good price but personally i wouldn't touch Dyson.
After having 2 dysons (different models) both having broken down multiple times (motors and accessories) during and after the warrantly period i have totally lost faith in them. A lot of people i have spoken to tend to agree - overpriced and overhyped.
We now have a 'cheap' £80 panasonic which is much lighter than the dysons we had and a damn site more powerful. Picksup more dirt and is easier to empty.
Just my opionion based on my experience.
