I have had a quote for a hand built kitchen, they are lovely, and really well made, but the quote is over and above what I can afford.
How much would be fair for a kitchen made out of solid pine, shaker style, hand painted in Farrow and Ball paint, with plain beech knobs also painted to include, one door for a dishwasher, one for a washing machine, inglenook style housing around a cooker, with tall cupboards, two wall units.
One bespoke dresser unit with shelving above, oh and one corner cupboard.
Oak worksurfaces two lengths of 3m.

If you read your post again you'll see that its a totally unfair question (both on you and the guy that has quoted you already) to ask here mainly because, as you've phrased it, it's a totally inadequate job specification.

    Right you are
Obviously the man who has quoted has measured up, so its not unfair on him.
I was only after a rough guide here

Theres no need to be sarcastic. That won't get you any help. You haven't said how many base units, how many cupboards, how many doors, how many drawers, drawer line etc etc etc etc.

Yes it is TOTALLY unfair on the guy who has quoted you because you are looking for something to compare his price with based on wholly inadequate information.

I agree with Ormus - anything up to 25 or even 30k.

    Cheers

I've just about finished hand building my own kitchen.

2 weekends to build a unit
    2 weekends to paint it

working 8 hour days, 30 pounds an hour gives £2,000 per unit.

That reminds me why it took me all summer.

Back in the Spring I made a shaker style kitchen. All units had a spay paint finish, adjustable shelving, face frames ,doors hung on tradtional butt hinges. We made bespoke Americal Black Walnut worktops (much nicer than Oak). The kitchen is about 3mx2.1m.The carcases were constructed from Moisture resistant MDF which costs a fair bit more than chipboard.

The client supplied all appliances. The total price for the Kitchen take out existing kitchen, new kitchen supplied and fitted was £11k +vat..............Hope its of some use..

Any bespoke, handmade kitchen will cost a premium because of the man hours involved... Feel free to PM me with more info if it helps.......

PS Just my opinion but it would reduce the cost if you were to have the kitchen spray finished......Farrow and Ball are very, very overated in my opinion.....I have worked on many churches,Manor houses and Listed Buildings and F&B live on snob value and little substance.....

I'd not bother, it's a kitchen, only the downstairs staff see it.

Thanks leveller, I dont think my quote is too bad then, I am in East Sussex too, are you a kitchen maker or a builder?
I love farrow and ball paints, you either do or you dont....... I love the colours and the finish, I have in the past had the colours copied but the finish isnt the same.
