    Others blu-ray player offers include:

    LOGIK LBD2000 Blu-ray player - PC World £79.99

    &

    Curtis Blu-Ray Player DVD1100UK - ASDA £95

These offers are good, but I think it is worth people remembering that Blu-Ray is not a rock solid consumer electronics product yet; it doesn't always work out of the box so continued support from the manufacturer is going to be crucial. Given the choice of a "Curtis" for £95 or a "Sony" for £99 I would spend the extra £4 for the product support. Add to that Sony invented Blu-Ray and therefore have a vested interest in it working for *their* customers...

There's no point in saving a few £ if you will need to buy a new player within two years because the one you bought won't play any new discs and there is no firmware update to rectify the situation.

  • I found the BDPS360 plus 3 free films from sony on their web site:

    sony.co.uk/product/blu-ray-disc-player/bdp-s360

(sorry not allowed proper links just add the www)

Advertised at £119.99 but there may be P&P as well.
  • The Limit Player from HMV looks interesting, MKV playback also? Would be interested in reviews of this.

I ended up taking mine back to Debenhams - there was a problem with the front panel display saying LOAB instead of LOAD and NO BISC instead of NO DISC, and it wouldn't play Ice Age 1 or 3. I went to Richer Sounds and got a Sony BDP-S360D which is region-unlocked for DVDs for £99.

Still a good deal if you get a working one.

check out the ONN from Asda if you've got one near. Pretty sure it's got a usb port that supports divx, and was no more than £30. Will double check when in ork tomorrow
  • John Lewis are doing the Philips BDP3000/05 model for £97 delivered free to your local store or home

Hi...bought a Philips DVP3360 for £40 from ASDA few weeks ago. USB 2 port on front plays Divx etc from USB stick but I also tried a 320GB portable Western Digital drive formatted to FAT32 and hey presto......it works a treat.....instant access to 320GB of films, photos and music!

Had the previous model DVP5960 which was great but only USB1.1 and this new one works a treat. Also has HDMI out etc...
