My partners bank has recovered a credit card debt from her current account from a pension payment recently depoisited. This was to be used to pay off mortgage arrears. Is there any chance of claiming either all or part of this back?

Not a hope in hell.
As far as the bank was concerned they excercised their right of set off from one account to another.0
