Credit Report Problem

Hi all,

Hi am hoping for some help i have an issue with my credit reports & HSBC.

I have had a direct debit bounce with HSBC which i have been charged for £25.

I have recently checked my credit file and found that HSBC have been marking my credit file as having late payments towards my current account (28 days over due) for each bounced direct debit??????

If a payment does bounce and i go over drawn i am only overdrawn for a few days as i have regular income.

If i have two bounced direct debit they mark my credit file as being two months late towards payments.

This has a somewhat adverse affect on my credit score as lenders belive i have been over drawn over 28 days which is impossible as i am paid monthly! I also make sure if a payment bounces i imediatly put funds into the account to compensate.

I have writen to equifax and experian stating that this information is wrong. they have advised me to contact HSBC. I have contacted HSBC and complained to my bank manager who agrees its wrong and all I get three weeks later is a letter explaing that its in the terms and conditions.

firstly is there anyone else experincing this and is there anything more i can do about it????

J

  • the markers don't have a time limit, its just a general mark telling creditors that you have regularly missed payments. whether they're a couple of days or a month late is irrelevant. thats what my experian report says anyway.

some creditors will be generous and not report if you only miss one or two payments, but it sounds like you have had a few direct debits bounce. if thats the case then i think you need to stop trying to have them removed as they aren't incorrect marks, and start addressing the reasons why you're missing payments.
