Tax refund ?

I have had two emails today saying I have a £281 tax refund due
the only problem is the email looks a bit dodgy to me (and I never get anything from the taxman) does anybody know if there is a tax scam doing the rounds at the mo ? The email has a link to click and Ive got a nasty feeling when I get there its going to want to know my bank details

Has anybody seen this email today ?

David

  • I get this one all the time. Total scam. Ignore!

If you were due a rebate they would write to you, not email. I mean, how did they get your email? I have never given mine to taxman.
  • Thanks for that I like I said I thought it looked dodgy but a bit extra at Christmas would be nice.
  • Forward it to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk . Then delete it.

I also received this on both my yahoo and hotmail accounts but was suspicious because the attachment requested bank details and also because it didn't come with a secure website ie the HTTPS. Tax refunds are usually made via your pay packet.
