Help - emulsion on carpet!

I've just been painting the hall and managed to slop 1/4 pint of white emulsion on the stairs. I've blotted what I can and scrubbed with water and washing-up liquid, but I can still see a 'shadow' of it on there (dark patterned carpet). What can I do?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

It's not easy stuff to remove completely. There are some products such as this on the market - but can't guarantee the total effectiveness :-

Regrettably, the hindsight solution - dust sheets, applied before painting, are the best:oIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
If I remember correctly this thread caused quite a bit of amusement ...

I had a dust sheet down ... at the other end of the hall! Talk about me being daft ...The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. Have you tried using stardrops on it? it worked for me on a few 'splashes' of paint i got on the carpet, but luckily i didn't spill as much as you
I put a squirt of stardrops in some very hot water, then used one of those sponge scrubby things you use when you wash the dishes, and they came off. Not sure if it'll work on a big patch, but might be worth a try :rolleyes:0 -
I haven't been able to find any Stardrops round here - I looked today. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. My sis did this with a half a pot of paint!!! She just kept at it - she said she was so determined to get it out and she did. Keep a scrubbing girl and you should get there! I have heard it said that white spirit can help despite it being a water based paint you spilled.HTH.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I knowit sounds weird but have you tried using a microcloth - the ones you can get from poundland etc. My daughter had a foul (teenage party) pink carpet and I wasn't sure if I wanted to/could clean it. I just tried rubbing at one of the worst bits with a fairly wet micro cloth. To my amazement whatever was down there came off! I have managed to clean up this carpet with just a cloth and water! I can also recommend the wet wipes - I always keep them by me when decorating after Carol Smiley said that what they used on Changing Rooms.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. I got some small splashes out with Vanish carpet spray and some hefty scrubbing. Dont know if it would work on that amount though? The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
