Hi all, I've inherited a G4 (400mhz processor, 640mb RAM, 20gb HDD, 20/21" Mitsubushi D2 Monitor, and of course keyboard and mouse).
Would anyone be able to put a price on that for me if I were to sell it privately?
Thanks all.

£100 tops - slow processor, but decent monitor and HD - put it on ebay for a good price, lots of Apple enthusiasts on there (myself included!)0

is it a imac?0

Erm, no, a Powermac I think.0

If you do put it on ebay, you might want to highlight the fact that if the system is used for intenet access, there are very few viruses or trojans that can affect it. Mac users already know this, but it might make it more attractive to mac neophytes.0

These guys are taking you for a larf here... dont take any notice of them! Macs hold their value really quite well... Although the processor is slow, and it doesnt have much hard drive, it does have quite a lot of RAM for its age.
That system would easily run the latest Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger with that amount of ram (640mb is a lot, so providing its in good working order, its probably worth quite a bit more than £100).... especially if you are including a large screen and keyboard + mouse. Power macs can be easily upgraded too.... extra RAM and hard drive.
As someone said, your best bet is definitely putting it on ebay.... Macs sell well on there, and are usually really popular. Make sure you include a good picture of it, and include as many details about it as you can.
Does it have a copy of Mac OS X on it already (10.2 Jaguar or 10.3 Panther?), you will be able to get many details about the system from that... so you should include those too (such as Graphics card details and memory, network card details, CD/DVD optical drive details and speed etc... whether its an official apple keybaord and mouse.... all of which will affect the price quite drastically).
For example, the old black pro optical one-button mice are worth a lot on their own, if they are in good condition.0 -
agreed, i have a 8 year old imac running 10.2 with a 333 processor! if that was a pc it would have been in the skip years ago!0

I have a 400MHz G4 tower like that. I paid about £600 on eBay originally. They are still selling for £200+.
It's a great machine. Really easy to upgrade. I've fitted a DVD/CD burner "superdrive", two 128GB Hard drives and a 300GB in mine (for camcorder files). It runs OSX10.4 (Tiger). You can also fit a CPU (up to 1.8GHz) upgrade, although they are rather expensive.0
