If auction exceeds Buy it now... can buyer ask for a refund?!

If a buyer wins an auction at a price higher than the Buy it now, can he request a refund of the excess?
The Buy it now disappears after the first bid but what if the buyer asks you the Buy it now price at the end of the auction? I know the seller doesn't have to say... but has anything like this happened to anyone?
Thanks

The whole point of "buy it now" is to ,err, "buy it now". If bids then come, then it is sold to the highest bidder. Only a real "chancer" would try and get it for the "buy it now" price if they had bid higher."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

They can't ask for anything. Well, they can ask
but they don't have any right to get it - they should pay what they bid. 0 -
Your buyer gambled and lost. Now s/he must pay up at the price they bid at. Bloody cheek!0

Quite right! In any case, the second highest bidder may have bid the same price only later, so winner should consider themself lucky to have won. Once the bidding starts auction rules apply.patriciaellen wrote: »Your buyer gambled and lost. Now s/he must pay up at the price they bid at. Bloody cheek!0 -

Thanks for the feedback...
I was also trying to find out why eBay chooses to disable BIN after the first bid but couldn't find a good reason for this method... Do sellers generally prefer that BIN disappears after the first bid?Don't make me angry... you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.0 -
The BIN will stay in place if a reserve price is also in force. Once the bidding goes over the reserve, then the BIN will vanish.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0

No-one WANTS the BIN to disappear, except the bidder who hopes they can get it for less.
It's just an easy way for ebay to charge more fees for something that might not even get used.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
