Help Oil Leak

My OH has a Ford Mondeo 2l Zetec 2002. Oil keeps appearing when the car has been parked by the front tyre on passenger side. Garage closed now so he can't get it checked out till next week.

Any ideas what it could be? Is it likely to be covered by the 'comprehensive' 12 month warranty he had with the car? Does he have to ring warranty company before getting the car inspected?

Are you sure it's oil - not any other fluid? Could be antifreeze/or just condensation from air con, looking like oil, once it's on the ground.

Are you loosing enough to need to top up?

Best check the levels, all around.

Is it getting anywhere near brakes, or the exhaust. Anything like this needs urgent attention.

Your warranty will have approved repairers, usually. Just call & see what they say.

Even if it's not a warranty claim, you'll have a professional opinion, once the garage they suggest, looks at it.

Failing that, most Fast Fit places, only too keen to get you on their ramps for 'free' inspections.

Just don't start buying new tyres n exhasts on their first say so!!

Went to garage yesterday. Quick check could find no oil leaks but a jubliee clip on the cooling system hose was not as tight as it could be. I need to leave the car there for a few hours so they can tighten it when engine is cold. Luckily it's a friends garage so no charge.

I did ring Carselect before going to garage and they said if the garage found a leak for the garage to ring them and they would then sort out the bill with the garage.
