We also had something like this recently.

OH was at the footy and happened to be near where a fight started. OH was seen on the CCTV by one of the security staff and recognised as my OH (I worked at the football club), so they asked me if he saw anything. He said he had in fact seen the whole thing, so the police came to talk to him. He gave details of who started it and what happened etc etc etc.

We then got the same letter saying he had to go to court or be arrested etc! They also told us about the 2 men knowing his name and address, this scared me senseless!!

Same as you, luckily it never got to court and both men just got a 3 year banning order. But I was REALLY worried about it all!

    Thanks kr15snw.

I do recognise the need for safeguards to ensure the rights of the accused are protected. It does not seem fair that victims and witnesses do not get similar consideration.

My neighbour watched my car get stolen ...
They only told me the day after ..

The silver lining being ..It was a rubbish car and because the passenger door was broken (wouldn't open from the inside)..The Police collared the driver and passenger ..Off to go and do a post office...

It's sad that a lot of people refuse to be a witness for fear of repercussions.

You never think about it until you are put in the position where the court tells the pond life where you live. It is very easy for them to extract revenge, scratch you car or worse.

I will not be so willing to testify, if and when there is a next time.
