Do you know if the car was in stock or whether your order is a factory order? The man without a signature.0

I am afraid I have been very naive
Don't beat yourself up about it. Could have been worse."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -

Yes there is a possibility if its a standard non modifiied car that someone will buy it in the next few weeks and allow it to be sold as new. However its unlikely to be the original price as the buyer will be in a better negotiating position.
Oh, you poor, poor deluded youth!!
If you really think that will happen then please, please, please PM me your name and address, I could make a fortune out of selling you stuff!!!!
The chances of the buyer ever being aware that it was a cancelled order are very low to non existent - the sales person (if they are worth their wage) would never let a customer get the upper hand by knowing that info!!0 -

If you go into buy a new car that needs ordered and its sitting in the showroom its a bit of a giveaway.
The OP best hope its a standard popular car. If not the dealer is more than entitled to keep the deposit if not take action for more.0 -
Not at all, you can quite often go to a dealer and they may have stock of certain cars, in certain specs. Does not mean they were cancelled orders. Manufacturers over produce sometimes, they get purchased by dealers at very good prices and are quite often not of normal spec.
Oh, and isn't past your bedtime? Mumsy will not be pleased with you!!!0 -

They also tend to be pre-registered.
Exactly
The dealer will in all likihood try and sell the new car on in the next few weeks if it is a standard popular spec to someone who orders the same car.
Otherwise it will need to be discounted or pre registered
Who on earth would buy a brand new car ordered for someone else without expecting a discount. I certainly wouldnt as I would know fine the dealer would be keen to shift it. And given the way the market works as soon as the dealer didnt mention a lead time or tried to sell a certain spec it would be obvious what was happening.
The chances of the dealer still achieving the same sale value may be extremely limited
OP - could you confirm what car we are talking, cost and the options?0 -
Anhilator still waiting your pearls of wisdom on the b&q thread. you were going to come up with a list of legal defences which even Bond Pearce has failed.0
