I owned my first washing machine at 17. It cost me ninety quid second hand and lasted three weeks out of the warranty period.
While I saved for a new one I trod sheets in the bath and spent three days drip drying them.
If I hadn't been too green to know credit even existed, I would have signed my life away for a shiny new washer.
My first washing was at age 18, think it would have been about 5th hand by then....it leaked within a couple of months and flooded the downstairs flat.
I went onto handwashing for a while after that and then we got another second hand one.
First new one was....errr, can't blooming remember! May have been when I had our second son when I was 26 but not entirely sure of that.
I can remember when I got my first ever brand new sofa suite though.....2005, £399 from Argos.
Only ever had one brand new cooker, 1991 purchased with my redundancy pay.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
