Also, I did some actual work to day (and yesterday) I was so frightened and had to double check everything, then sent it to a friend who works as a copy editor to read it through in case...the actual work is fun, and not hard but I'm so terrified I'll do a stupid lir-ism that not taking too many chances.

I was being sarcastic. I am good at it:cool:

I know loads of so called educated people who can't spell for taffy. My degree is language related and I frequently start sentences with and or but. So what?

Stringing words together is as much an art form as some prat flinging paint at a canvas. More so when it is done well.

Punctuation and spelling become irrelevant when one word flows into the next. We are only too glad to be carried along on the tide.

I love Jane Austen, she writes with almost mathematical precision. Word perfect.

But my favourite authors are people like Kipling and Twain. They are less technically perfect but they both grab you by the heart and dont let go.

Just keep doing what you are doing and leave other people to google your spelling;)

You're obviously not good at it if you have to explain it :)

It annoys the hell out of me! I also have to some times fight the urge to type ''fewer'' under posts with ''less'' put wrongly in lieu. But Glass Houses etc. I also just have learned to have a LOT more patience with people since struggling myself. Its extremely embarrassing, but....what can I do? :D

I ADORE Twaine, I especially love Letters from the Earth.

er, arnt there emergency funds available if your on certain benefits?
& wouldnt cookers & washing machines count as 'emergencies'?
Budgeting loans which take several weeks to process are available for those on benefits up to a certain limit depending on how long on benefits, size of family and type of benefit.

Emergency, or 'crisis' loans are payable quicker, often same day (within working hours), but only cover food, nappies, prepay meters etc to last until next benefit day. These are only paid if eg a wallet is lost or stolen.

Don't know why I've read this thread, I am quite angry (maybe thats not the right word? -annoyed?) about this atm, my friend has told me today about how much she spent a fortune at the weekend on xmas pressies- bought on a provvy loan- then asked to borrow a tenner for petrol...:confused:

It is a business and as such is not there to help anybody, just make a profit like any other business.

It still has to follow rules, hence the report.

I have a friend who has, at a conservative estimate, fiddled about 50k in family credit by neglecting to mention the existence of her live in partner.

I have another friend who is a company director and because she pays herself a very low wage plus dividends gets a small fortune from FC and uses it to privately educate her child.

It isn't the system that is at fault it is the people who exploit it.

BTW did you loan her the tenner?

Showing your age ws, it Tax Credits nowadays :D

They are ridiculously easy to fiddle- although we all need to take individual responsibility, I agree on the system being the main problem

If I was giving any Tom !!!!!! or Harry expensive electrical goods with no questions asked I'd want to charge a hell of a lot more than 29.9% APR.

How much do they not get paid back?
