Canon Powershot camera - need new front body

One of our children dropped our Canon A590IS and the battery cover is only being half held on, as the one of the catches on the underside of the body has snapped. It still works but prefer to replace the part, which unfortunatley is the complete front half of the body, but cannot seem to find any spare parts online.

Does anyone know where spare parts are available?

Sorry to state the obvious, but have you tried Canon UK?

These guys (http://www.camera-repair.co.uk/) are Canon repair agents and are very helpful on the phone. I get my semi-pro gear repaired and serviced there.

  • I have recently purchased a Canon Powershot SX 200 IS Digital Camera. My previous Nikon Digital was only 3 mega pizel and I wanted to upgrade.

Tonight I uploaded the photos that I had taken with my 12 mp camera only to discover that they were too big in size to send by email.

Can someone advise me on what is the best thing to do? Should I set the camera to take a smaller mega pixel size before I take the pictures. I was uploading a digital photo of my boys to use as Christmas Cards and winzipped the picture, which worked. I still have a number other photos which I haven't got round to resizing.

I really like the camera and taking photos, but this is the first time I have uploaded any of the photos. I stil have to have a good look through the instruction manual which I have just finished installing on my computer (I wish it was in book form so that I could take it with me).

I also took a video footage at a leaving doo and it worked out very well.

The camera has obviously lots of capabilities, it's just getting the time to study it all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I am in the right link as I am unsure how to post a thread. I have spent all night working at this computer, time for a well earned cup of tea.

    You have lots of options:

    1. Set the camera to save smaller (ie lower-quality) images. Not the best option really as you want to capture the best quality possible at the start and reduce later if you can. If you start with lower quality you can never get it back.

    2. Capture at the highest quality and use one of the many free programs to "save as" at a lower quality jpeg. Picassa from Google is probably the most used program for this, but any of the free photo editors will do this

    3. Instead of emailing photos, use one of the free photo uploading sites (I think Picassa links to one, but again there are dozens if you Google for them) to share the pictures.

    4. If you don't want to use an uploading/sharing site, send the images by one of the free file-sending sites. I use YouSendIt - just Google again.

Thank you for your help. I will try the different options and see which ones suit my needs.
