I do appreciate M&S don't have to legally do anything here, but I am disappointed by their service, I can't believe there isn't an easy solution to this but no-one I've spoken to is interested. I did think they were the kind of store that would try to assist with something like this.

It's M&S - they have built their entire reputation on their quality customer service and product lines. They should be tripping over themselves to help you. All I can think is that you've been unlucky with whom you've spoken to.

  • I understand how you feel about this chickaroonee. Last Christmas my mother bought me a jumper from M&S and included the gift receipt. She and I both believed this was as good as an ordinary receipt but when I came to take the jumper back (it was too small!!) they did not have any more the same and they would only give me a credit note. I know M&S don't legally have to offer a refund for clothes that are too small but they always do. What annoys me most though is that when you accept a gift receipt to include in a present they don't explain to you that the recipient will only be able to exchange it for a credit note. I ended up getting something for my husband with mine.

In this day and age, with all the technology we have, and M&S using their smart stock control system (or whatever it's called), you'd think staff from one branch would be able to bring up a list of other branches that have an item in stock that someone wants. Then, get on the phone, or even better still... use the same computer that searched for the item, and request it.

    But... the computer says no...
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
