Need a website, with shop facility

Options
Hi guys. I set up a business at the start of October this year, after being made redundant. So far, it's going slowly and I've decided I need an online presence. I don't have the money to pay for this, so need it to be free and ideally needs to be able to be built with a step by step template as I'm no techie. The important bit is that it needs to have a shop facility. When I looked around briefly about a month ago, I could only find one that would allow me to list a maximum of 5 different lines for sale, but I need at least 50, preferably more. Can anyone offer any advice please?

Although not free, Vistaprint's top of the range website package at under £12.00 a month allows you to set up an internet shop and list as many items as you want.

I have had this package for my retail shop for over a year now & did experiment with the shop side just to see if it works (it does!)

Also the Vistaprint website package is very easy to set up. I am no techie & managed to set mine up initially from start to finish in a couple of hours.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi i use this one, it was recommend to me,
    http://www.doyourownsite.co.uk/
You have a months free trial
so you can mess with it change colours to suit you back grounds where you want your tags plus it does have a shop thing on it.
Ive not used that bit yet but Im working on it.
you can change it when ever you want too
Its better than 123 reg where you have their templates and colours. this one is sole your chose of design. The free trial is worth it just to have a mess about.

  • I use mrsite.com which is around 34.99. The problem with Vistaprint is that you cannot add metatags or google back links so would take ages to get into search engines.

have a google for 'shopping cart software'. there are a few free solutions, but you'll need a hosting package to run them, which costs money.

can you use eBay to start with to drum up business?
  • I use EKMpowershop which isn't free but is really easy to use & you can have as many product lines as you like. They have a practice shop so you can play and see how easy it is to use. I pay £25pm.
  • I'm just experimenting with moonfruit - http://www.moonfruit.com/. I quite like the sitebuilder which appears to be customisable but not tried the ecommerce yet. The basic package is free - the standard about £50pa.
  • Interesting re vistaprint as when I first looked you could not add metatags. Moonfruit is quite easy to use and also microsoft office live have free websites.

My friend set up an online shop with Mr. Site and said it was pretty easy, he's not really technical. If you are willing to spend the time to get to grips with it, "prestashop" is also worth looking at; they have a very supportive community of people that can help you get going with it, although it may be a bit too technical so Mr. Site may be better.
