Christmas Tree Lights?

1st Christmas in my own home so put the Christmas tree up last night, does it cost a lot having the lights on for long periods of time at night ( 5 hours a night)

Impossible to say without knowing the type of number of lights, wattage etc0

If they are excessively expensive then your primary concern should be being burned to death, not the cost - rush out and buy a battery of fire extinguishers and smoke alarms.
If they are standard fairy lights they will cost a trivial amount. Normal lights theseadays are about 0.5 of a watt so if there are forty of them that'll only be twice the cost of a low-energy lightbulb per hour. (About 2p or 3p per 5 hour day at 10p or 15p per kWh)
You're talking about less than £1 for the whole 24 days of advent and 12 days of Christmas.0
