Which printer is better?

Tesco's has an HP printer which scans, has a card reader etc for £54.99 and PC World has an Epson one for £59.99, which is the better printer?
For various reasons I could really do with one of these but I'm not massively technically minded so if anyone has any advice or can even suggest another brand or special offer I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance FC200.

What do you actually want from a printer? Would it be any advantage if you could scan pictures or text in? Would you make use of the card reader to read data from directly? Or do you just want it to print? (And if so, do you want photographic quality?)

I don't think anyone can answer the question you actually asked, since the car analogy is "Should I buy a Ford or a Toyota at about £11K?"...
  • I need to use it as a photocopier for around 50 copies at a time probably once a week, I would like to print off photos fairly regularly and also decent colour posters once in a while. I really want to know what produces the best copies and is HP better than EPSON? I know it's down to personal choice at the end of the day but I just wondered if anyone had any experience of either or.

  • That's going to be pretty sore on ink if you're using it as a photocopier for 50 copies. You'll probably be looking at changing the cartridges every 2 weeks, if you're going to be doing other printing as well.

Would a multifunction laser printer not be better for your needs? Such as this one for instance?

There might be better one's, and although they seem expensive to buy, they'll probably be cheaper in running costs.

I just wanted to say that I prefer Epsom. It was my first printer and was a good buy. Now I have HP and I don't like it as much; it seems more temperamental
but the other posters seem to know more about printers than I do. I can't imagine doing 50 copies on any printer I have had.
