Someone nicked my debt!

in Credit cards
I have had a Nationwide classic card for many years.
Always in debt and costing me a fortune so I promised myself to pay it off by jan 2004 and that is what I did, Since then Ive been paying it off every month like a good boy.
But after finding and reading this wonderfull forum I thought I would have a go at a bit of stoozing, to recoup some of the charges ive payed in the past.
I have applied for two cards:-
Sainsburys 0% purchases for 12 months
and Virgin 0% for 9 months on bt's
the Sainsburys card was instantly accepted online with a 5k limit.
not a squeek from the Virgin card
I did not ask either card to clear my nationwide card but someone has nicked my debt!!
I hope that it was not the Sainsburys card as that will ruin my 12 months 0% on purchases.
Has anyone got any ideas where my debt has gone??
Thanks M. ???

You must have entered the card numbers and the amount to to transfer, without which they would not have been able to transfer the money.
It should indicate on your credit card statement where the money came from.0 -
Thanks for your quick answer Mr B
The only reason that I know that this has happened is I checked my online banking and found the cc payed off.
the Virgin card application form had the details of my current account but not the cc.
Thinking about it the Sainsburys card application form did not have any bank details at all on it so it must be the Virgin card ?? I hope.
I wonder if you know where I can find a list of CC companys and the various cards that they run?
Thanks M.0 -
If you didn't give Virgin (MBNA) or Sainsbury's your CC details for Nationwide, then neither of them could have transferred it! It could be that someone else has entered the details wrongly (though unlikely they could guess at your balance!) . If it doesn't show on your online statement where the payment came from, call Nationwide to find out - the cost of a call is worth the peace of mind (use saynoto0870.co.uk to find the cheap number to call - believe it is 01793 456789).

No I did not enter any details of debits to be cleared (I was hoping to sbt to my current account) from the Virgin card and just use the Sainsburys card for purchases. The statement just says "Charge off account" ?? Most curious
Thanks M.0 -
Thanks Monki_man most helpfull

Woah Ive just had a thought, some time ago I asked Nationwide to change my classic card to a cashback card!
I wonder if they have got round to it at last?
If so I am sorry to have bothered you all, what with xmas and other things I had completely forgot about the change of card type.
I will of course keep you informed.
Thanks M.0 -
Whoops I owe you all an apology.
Further to my last post yesterday I phoned the CC company this morning and after being asked if I had set up a balance transfer ? I said definatly not. Then she investigated further and confirmed that the balance has been transfered to my new card and it was the setting up of a new card that caused the loss of my debit balance, but it gets worse the old and new accounts are now running in "parralell" (never could spell) until I recieve the new card. as in the owed balance still has to be paid to the old account by the cutoff date or I will be deemed to have "missed" a payment !!! ???
I think I might try just paying the minimum this month and claim ignorance when the bill comes in and try to claim the intrest back later.
I realy (told you) do appreciate your help :- all of you especialy(again) as Im a newbie and all.
I guess the reason for posting in the first place was blind panic ??? as this has never happened to me before.
I will in future sit back and watch: wait, read and think long and hard before posting again.
Once more Sorry for wasting your time.
Cheers M.
Ps what a great forum this is.
it's got to be the only place on the planet you can get something for nothing!!!!!
Thanks again M.0
