There was a spate of foreign nationals applying for tax credits fraudulently a while back, for whatever reason the computer (or the person putting it onto the computer) has got the wrong information.
All they want to do is clarify your ID so they can get it sorted out for you, overpayments are very very common for tax credits so dont worry about it. Being honest its nice to see a govt department actually following their own guidelines and clarifying your ID before discussing it with you :TFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
If you have given them all the correct information you shouldnt have anything to worry about.
It sounds like they are just checking that you are not claiming fraudulently because the dob they had didnt match your ni number.
Try not to worry about it0 -
I got the same letter as for some reason they had my wrong DOB on system-has been for 3 years!
They requested my pasport or birth cert so sent passport in yesterday via special delivery-dont want that going missing in the post-cost £4.95 tho eessh.
