easyjet ema refunds

I booked an East Midlands/Malaga Easyjet flight going out in December and returning in January. Easyjet have ceased operations from EMA as from 5th Jan, so I can fly out but not get back. As they are only refunding the whole flight (I don't want to return to Luton, it's too far away) I have had to book another flight with BMI Baby which has cost an extra £100. Are Easyjet in breach of contract and can I claim the difference from them? Or, as I suspect, do they wriggle out of this in the small print. On the website regarding refunds they say once you opt for a refund the claim is final, is this correct.
Legal eagles please help, the small print is too small for my tired eyes.

You could have arranged a flight with bmibaby through Easyjet for no extra charge. Why have you not done this?Gone ... or have I?0

dmg24 is right, easyJet is offering passengers with flights booked to/from ema after 5 January a full refund, transfer to another easyJet flight at another airport - no extra charge - or swapping to a bmi flight at no extra charge. I'd contact easyJet.0

The problem with opting for Bmi baby is that they run some of the flights only twice a week, so it might not tie in with dates that the OP wanted. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

Yes I read it, maybe you didn't understand it, or my reply. But then not my place to hold your hand now, is it.Did you read the OP?
Edit: Krikey, just saw another recent post of yours. You should go to bed with a hotwater bottle, and stay away from anything sharp.:rotfl:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. The original poster booked a flight. The flight is no longer running and easyJet have offered a full refund. What's the problem? It's not Easyjet's responsibility - they booked a single flight and the single flight has been cancelled.
Oh wait, it's the old case of I WANT I WANT I WANT.
I wants don't get.From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
I read it as
OP booked flight East Mids - Malaga - East Mids
flight out is ok but flight back is cancelled
Sounds like they would only refund the full return ticket and not just refund the return portion (which is strange as I thought EasyJet flights were all classed as one-ways)
Looks like OP has then taken the refund and gone off and booked their own bmibaby flight
however EasyJet could have booked the OP on the bmibaby flight at no additional cost as other posters have been offered this but it looks like they opted for the refund instead
OP can you confirm if this is correct?0 -
Sorry for delay, lost password so couldn't log in to reply.
Didn't realise that Easyjet would have booked me on the Baby flight at no extra cost, I thought it only applied to another Easyjet flight. Easyjets wording inferred a refund only on the whole (return) flight.0
