I've had bad experiences with CDBurnerXP crashing or producing coasters. I'll repeat the advice above, though - InfraRecorder is pretty intuitive, as is ImgBurn. I've heard good things about BurnAware Free, but never used it myself.0

No it won't. If you wanted to back-up copy protected DVD's, it would need additional processing. I think it will integrate with DVD Shrink as the default burner, but it would still need something else to initially decrypt with.

BonkEnc rips CDs rather quick, and Unstoppable Copier is good for damages CDs.
DVD43 is a free porgram to remove DVD protection so most CD/DVD burning programs can copy them. Though I have heard that http://www.dvdsmith.com/ is good at this too but cant confirm.0
