Want to make a slideshow & pictures for my website...

I want to make a slideshow for my website homepage but I am nervous about what I download because I've read on here that some downloads can contain spyware or malware (I think).

Can someone tell me a safe place I can download, is slide.com ok to use?

Also, I would like to have some images on my homepage but I am not really sure on where to start. How do you suggest the best way to go about learning, is this something I could learn online or should I sign up for a course somewhere.

I am not really that creative, I have picasa and while it is great for doing the images and making collages I am not sure what else I can do with it. I wonder if I should just pay someone and get it over and done with, I am not really sure what I want but at the moment I have nothing on the page but want something eye catching. Is this something I could learn to do myself? Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

I use windows movie maker, very basic but nice and easy to use. I would suggest just play about with it if you have it on your computer. I think it comes with XP not sure about vista.

I have done a few vids on youtube using it and was pleased with the result.

Cant remember if I can link to it but here is one anyway

    Thanks jem,

I've got movie maker as I downloaded it yesterday as part of the Windows Live Mail package. It seems easy enough to use as I've just had a play with it. I wonder if you know if I can put a link on the picture, so as it plays the customer can click on it and go to that page. This is what I need but I am not sure where I can make something like that.

Yes under the creat titles and credits tab (if its the same as my version on movie maker)

There is an option to put a title on current picture. So you can just overlay some text.
