hi guys,

is there any help that any of you can give me regarding my sons ds being in water for a couple of mins?

i took battery out straight away and have had it in the airing cupboard for just over a week but all it is doing is a little flash on the top screen then turns off.

is there any hope for saving this???

thanks

If it was in the water for a couple of minutes I doubt there is much hope as the water will have had time to seep in

Leave it for a bit longer - might need more time to dry out.

If it comes to the point when you can't get it to work and you want to chuck it out - don't - PM me first!! :)

Put it in a bag of rice. The rice draws the water out

  • As advised by aliEnRIK pop it in a bag of rice and take it out of the airing cuboard after a few more days. A major problem with delicate electronics is what is left by the water when it dries. If you're feeling brave and it definitely won't work you can try giving it a bit of a clean with a q-tip by taking off the plastic covers and such like. On my phone posting this otherwise i'd link you to some videos on how to dissemble it safely. Try a quick Google.

There should be a water damage mark somewhere inside there near the battery. Size of the 0 on the windows clock in your taskbar. Is it pink? That usually signs the worst water damage.

If it doesn't work or semi work after extensive drying and/or cleaning it's for spare parts i'm afraid. Or you can get it professionally repaired :D
