Help! My flat completion date has not been setted

Options
I gave an offer for my flat in the beginning of Jan 2006, and it was accepted.

I've signed the all the papperwork, given the depoist. It has been 4 weeks and the date still has not been set. The vendors are not answering thier phone.

Is there anything I can do, because they stated on the advertising that there is on onward chain. But the way they are acting it seems like there is. I spoken to my solictors and they are saying to wait a bit.

Can I do anything about, as the advertisment is misleading and the estate agent keeps on telling me that they are looking for somewhere to live. It has been 4 weeks and they still ahven't found anything.

Please help, as this becoming really stressful. I had to move out of my rented property because the tenancy agreement finished. I am know living with my parents and the space is really tight (me hubby & baby)

you could threaten to look for other properties if they don't exchange.

Why don't you offer to exchange now with completion set for end July. That way they have some time to sort out their end.

Until you've exchanged nothing is legally binding.

If they won't give you a date for exchange, never mind completion I would be inclined to look for another property.

Its painful to lose out on the money you've paid out but if you want to move quickly that may be your only option.

    what was misleading about it?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

The misleading part is that we said we wanted to move in ASAP. The advertisment said on chain. So why are they taking such a long time to agree a completion date. It has been 4 weeks and date has been agreeded. This is what I find so misleading.

Your sellers may have no chain, that is, they are not looking to purchase another property. They still require some where to live, possibly rented accommodation and may be taking their time in finding a suitable property to live in. In this instance the advert hasn't been misleading.

As has been suggested, threaten to pull out, but only as long as you are prepared to.

I think they are buying a property and not looking to rent. How do find out if they are actually buying a property. The EA for the past 4 weeks has been saying that they are looking for somewhere to rent.

How long does it take to find a property to rent.

Depends on how specific they are being in their search. They may want to live there for some time, so when viewing, they are looking at rented almost as if they are going to buy.

Try & get the EA & your solicitor to get some answers to timescales.
