Hello fellow Money Savers!

One of my friends is painting - in the new year (we have had to re-schedule the date to fit in with people recording the event) - the world's largest ever picture (as far as we know) of Rick Astley.

He is raising money for the chairty Jubilee Action, who are helping the orphaned children in Rwanda, who sadly lost their parents as a result of the 1994 Genocide. The money will be used to build a training and educational centre for children.

I would like to ask for your support with this event, as we need to raise as much money as we possibly can. If any of you wish to make a donation, simply follow the links provided below.

Donations can be made securely (look for the 'https://' and small padlock displayed either at the top or bottom of the browser) by visiting the links posted here - you can use your credit/debit card to make a donation - please tick the 'add gift aid' box (as this - at no extra cost to yourself - will give an extra few pounds).

Donations can also be made via PayPal - you will be given the option to do this when you have pledged your donation.

The links to make a donation are as follows (please copy into your browser):

giantrickastley.org.uk.
or
justgiving.com/rickastley.

Please pass on the word to your family and friends.

Christmas is a time for love and giving, so show your generosity this year and give the children of Rwanda an amazing gift. Even a small donation can go a long long way.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me.

Thank you! :rotfl:

    Hi fengirl,

I knew I had forgotten to put something in!

    The charity is Jubilee Action.

I have added it to the main body of the text now.

    Thanks!

How do we know this enterprise is genuine?

The domain doesnt even have reg details...

Where exactly is this event taking place? Has Rick given his support?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    C_Mababejive,

I understand your concern here - this fundraising event is quite 'original' and 'out of the box'.

    But...

The only way to donate money is through JustGiving.com, from which the money goes directly to Jubilee Action, and you can also add Gift Aid which is one of the best things about Just Giving.

If you have not heard of JustGiving before you can go here: justgiving.com/about-justgiving.

If you have not heard of Jubilee Action before you can go here: jubileeaction.co.uk.

(copy the links into your browser without the full stop at the end)

The domain giantrickastley.org.uk was set up with whois privacy protection enabled to stop spammers and con artists from getting our personal contact details. There is a web contact form on the site if you do wish to get in contact with the organisers.

As for Rick giving his support - we are currently in the process of contacting his agent, and will keep you posted on this.

The event will take place in Manchester, and will be filmed (possibly by a local TV station - they expressed interest earlier), then posted online for everyone to watch.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask :)

    Thanks

Jubilee Action is a registered charity, with only about £50k in free reserves on an annual expenditure of over £400k, so worth supporting.
