advice re. tyre on wrong way!!

hi, am a useless bint when it comes to cars...
had my m.o.t done july and it passed but needed brakes doing and they recommended to replace the 2 front tyres in a few months as they were nearing their limit.
got brakes done elsewhere, kwikfit checked my tyre pressures/tyres free last week and advised that one of my tyres is on the wrong way round!!

they said this is an instant fail on the m.o.t and said no wonder my tyres are worn...

returned car to lookers, who not only sold me the car but passed it on it's m.o.t and all they're offering is to replace the 2 front tyres for the bargain?? price of 87 quid

what are my rights? what do you suggest?
cheers!

  • Do you mean they are directional? Have they been off at any time? Or a puncture and the spares directional too? (If a spares directional it will only do one side).
  • yes they are directional, only one is the wrong way round...

only time ever that the tyre could have been off is when i got the brakes done, lookers are not saying they did or didn't commit the faux pas...

just need to know where i stand? what i should do?

I would take their offer depending on the tyres. You will never prove they were responsible or MOT'd the car wrongly.

I also wouldnt take Kwik Fits word for it as they arent exactly known for the mechanical knowledge.
  • lookers acknowledge that the tyre is on the wrong way...

the tyres are federa and then lots of numbers etc

i was hoping i'd be at least able to get free tyres and/or m.o.t.
well it is nr christmas heh

And whose to say Kwik Fit didnt put it that way, or you did.

You cant prove any neglience on their behalf hence anything you do get is a bonus.

A free MOT and Tyres is just taking the !!!!, especially considering how dodgy kwik fit are.

Couldn't have been when the brakes were done, since then there would have to be 2 tyres on the wrong way.

Either Kwikfit did it or someone swapped it the week before because you would have noticed it on one of your regular weekly maintenance check wouldn't you :o
