Dont know landlord's address - how to take him to court?

I have posted few times in regards to this mistake I did by renting a property from this landlord. Here is the summary:
- Rented a property, had to move out in 3 months. Did so after finding an acceptable tenant for the landlord. Landlord was happy and said he will return the FULL deposit in 2 weeks.
- Landlord is refusing to pay back the security deposit, says he has no money.
- Sent him a letter telling him that I will go to court in 10 days.
- No reply to that and now he has changed his mobile number.
Now I found that he has changed his address as well and I have no idea where he is. I hope he is not dead without paying my £950
Any idea how I can proceed further?
Thanks a lot for your time.

A quick search at the Land Registry might throw up another address, but if not as is likely, then send the letter before issue to the landlord to the address of the flat or whatever address is registered at the Land Registry. This will be a valid address for service.
If and when you obtain judgement, then you can then put a charging order on the flat.
However be warned. Enforcing a judgement and obtaining a judgement are two entirely different animals. .

Here are some hints here for tracing a landlords address
http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/landlord's_address.htm
Sometimes a service like 192.com or similar can be quick and cheap to trace someone if they're on the electoral register and you know approx where they are in the country. Not so helpful if their name is very common.0 -
OP - presumably you have checked whether or not the LL has registered the tenancy deposit? If not google TDS, DPS and mydeposits.co.uk .
Did you pay your rent via SO into the LLs bank? Have you retained the account details?0 -
You might need to use an agency like those listed here...
http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/dir/tenant-tracing.htm
- you'll probably need time, patience & money but I urge you to go after the little s*** to make sure he realises he can't get away with behaving like this...
Good luck!

Why not pop round and ask the acceptable tenant? If this new tenant doesn't know then suggest they take steps to find out in order to cover their backsides and let you know too.0
