That would probably be the cheapest for your consumption.

But you won't know what your consumption will be presumably. So perhaps see if you can find out from the previous tenants and use that as a starting point.
Keep an eye on your meter and take regular readings to see if you are using the same amount as envisaged.

Oh, and use the comparison sites in the resource bar above to find out who would be cheapest for you.

Mind you, you'll have to sign up with the existing suppliers first and any switch in supplier will take at least 4 weeks which, at this time of year, should give you a good idea of how much elecytricity you'll be using over the winter.

I'm with Scottish Power and every time another company cold calls me, when they hear I have Economy 7 they say just stay with SP as they are the cheapest.

Storage heaters are tricky and mine are ancient. It took ages for me to work out how best to use them.

I got two quotes for central heating yesterday as I can't stand being in a cold house any longer.

Oh I feel your pain! I moved into a flat 2 months ago and have storage heaters and Ive heard nothing but horror stories about how expensive they are! If i knew then what I know now then I wouldnt have taken the flat! I have been advised by EDF (my elec comp) that if I left them on for a month, my bill will run into hundreds of pounds each month!!!! ARGH!
It is very depressing that I can see my breath when I am sat watching TV in the evening- never again will I neglect to check what heating system my next place has! I cant wait for March when my tenancy is up! Im outta there!
:j :jTotally and utterly debt free as of 27/05/09!!!:j :j

What a strange thing to say!

... unless that other company is one of the new boys that don't offer an E7 tariff

Don't panic. I've bought an all electric house and I'm not finding the bills particularly alarming. 3 bed end terrace townhouse with 2 adults working full time. We have a TV, Pc, Wii, DVD player and all the usual stuff.

Our electric bill is working out at about £18 per month without the heating and £35 per month with the heating on (which it is all the time now as I have two very small kittens who need the warmth).

    EDIT - Here's some tips

Hot water - our shower heats it's own water and it's cheaper to just boil the kettle to wash dishes, so we don't have the immersion heater on.

Tumble dryers and dishwashers are expensive to run, so don't use them if you can manage without them.

Washing machine - we set our to go on overnight when the electric is cheaper.

It probably will be compared to the portable gas heater.

... and to think of the comments the person who recently was thinking of getting a flueless mains gas heater got.
