Problems paying Provident, now have delayed Default

Totally agree with LeeSouthEast.
On reading your posts again it seems as though you are trying to find some spurious reason for trying to get the agreement cancelled, judging by the link that you have posted.
You also say:I am trying my best to give my money to Provident
When it is clear that you are not trying at all.0 -
I agree with the OP trying to get out of paying the debt.
My gf (now wife) borrowed £300 when she met me from provident, i took her to my parents house and she wanted to have some cash so she did not feel out of place.
When we were married, i cleared the loan in full. The amount i had to pay was £460. I am unsure what the total interest was, but maybe close too paying £560 in full.
I dont like these loan companies that prey on the poor. They make me laugh by sending the wife letters with the chance to borrow £250. We laugh as this is the amount stamped on all the bank cards we have.
Report back if you get out of it OP...

Excuse me? Where do some people get off. You dont know my full story so please, do not try to tell me I am trying to get out of paying a debt! And I certainly do not have a so called hidden agenda! Yes I have the money to pay them, but find it nigh on impossible to get a response from them to arrange something!
I've clearly said I want to pay. No I dont want to pay over the phone as I had problems with paying a debt over the phone once, where there was money was somehow paid into a wrong account and it took an age for me to prove it was paid and get it back into the right account. Why I need to explain this is beyond me. Surely its my choice how I pay? Especially as I was told by them that the only way to pay was by them collecting from my doorstep!!
I asked a genuine question as to why it took 3 years of loans for anything to appear on my credit report. But I guess I shouldn't have said that either. Sheesh.
Maybe I'm also a bit too proffesional with some things, but found the way that the agent setup the credit agreement a little wierd. I'm not going into details, as obviously I'll get accused of things again, but I had hardly signed the bit of paper before I was handed my £1000 loan, less the first payment.
Right, now that perhaps I have explained myself, for no real reason what-so-ever, can someone please help with my initial problem?
I want to pay.
I find it very difficult to contact them in any other way than writing/email to them.
I have offered to take it to them, to the agent, for us to arrange a time at my correct address (which again it has taken them god knows how long and how many emails to realise).
All I am trying to get out of, is having a Default notice on my credit report.
I'm not poor, I am an IT Manager for a law firm, I can and will pay. I only got the loans as they were easy to get from the previous agent. Call them up, have the money within 2 days! The only reason I posted up the other link was to do with whether or not what they were doing re interest was right/legal/whatever.
Enfieldian, LeeSouthEast, I would appreciate some advice from you, if you have any, on the best way to deal with my problem. Please don't accuse me of anything other than that.0 -
Trouble is I can't. For one thing, I don't really like giving my card details out over the phone. For another, I can't make calls to 0800 numbers from work. This means I'd have a stupidly short amount of time on a Saturday to contact them from my mobile.
Maybe can't is the wrong word. Would really prefer not to?
I want to hand my money over to them, in person, just as I had done for about 3 years prior to this loan and as I agreed to when I took it out.
incidentally, can a default be enforced if it is issued to the wrong address?
Sorry but all of the above are VERY WEAK excuses as to why you haven't paid.LeeSouthEast wrote: »You can ring 0800 numbers free from any phone box.
You can use http://www.0800buster.co.uk/ to call 0800 numbers using a 'normal' number.
It appears purely from reading, you are trying to find obstacles to not pay this.
Absolutely agree.
If people are stupid enough to use cowboy outfits like this, then whatever comes when they refuse to pay (regardless of what the OP says, this is what is going on), they deserve.0 -
Assuming that IT managers for law firms can read:arrange a mutually convenient time for them to come and collect.
This will require a telephone call though, however you are too busy, every minute of every day, apparently.
Heaven forbid that you would ever need to book an appointment with a doctors surgery, garage, estate agent etc... You would obviously never be able to do it.
Don't know what else to suggest.0 -
The OP is yanking your planks!!
Look at the times of his posts, all working hours or there about. Why not go for a dump and make the phone call whilst in the bog, or snoop off with the smokers to the smoking shelter and make it from there??
Or.....

What exactly are your working hours if you work over 12hrs a day Mon-Fri ??
£60 is £60 but even so, after a 10 year hike to crawl out of debt, I wouldn't be too concerned and pay the bimmin' thing.0 -
What Apples2 said.
Most sensible post on here.
Game over.0 -
Thanks for your excellent advice about my issue. These are really good forums. Wow, I clearly enjoy yanking planks. No I obviously cant read. not sure where £60 came from? Booking appointments with what you have stated is indeed very difficult for me. I fail to see what my post times have to do with anything.
Any chance anyone can actually answer my original question about the Default Notice? I dont want to discuss my working hours, post times, my choices with not giving out my card details over the phone, how rich/poor I am or how good the education service is in this country. I came on here distressed about getting a default notice about something I am paying and wanted some advice, but this thread has done wonders for my health.
I have got a response from Provvy and, despite what you guys think, I am paying. (God knows why you think I wont). Not sure why you guys are so hostile on here but heyho. Please STOP accusing me of things. Its my debt, my choice and I am paying it.
Please, again, if anyone can offer advice with my Default Notice issue, I would be most grateful.
Then we can all go down the pub and accuse me of whatever we want.:beer:0 -
What exactly are you struggling with?
You defaulted on paying your loans and have a default notice. Simple as that!
You have made little/no effort to accomodate the agent you need to pay, and blatantly refuse to use another payment method.
Nothing you can do and default deserved.
If you don't like that, then too bad.0 -
Me thinks the man protest too much. You keep saying you are paying, when clearly you are not, for whatever reason as if you were paying you wouldn't have a default!
TBH i doubt your story anyway, i don't care how easy it is to get a provvy loan if you earn good money you'd have no need to borrow £1000 off them to give them back £2000 or whatever their rediculous interest rate is now.0
