Shoe Zone vent!!

Options
 2 weeks ago I bought a pair of boots from Shoezone. I know they were only £9.99, but I needed them in a hurry, and as I was only ever planning on wearing them for work, I figured I wouldnt get much problem with them. Oh how wrong I could be!

1st pair had to go back 2 days later as the zip broke at the bottom, meaning that the zip would undo itself from the bottom. Not a huge problem, and for the price, I kind of expected something to go wrong with them.

Today, 10 days after getting a replacement pair, I walked to the shop. It was raining and had been all day. I got back to work having realised my feet were practically swimming around in these boots, and to my total shock and disgust, the soles on BOTH shoes had split across. I had to sit in work all day with my socks on the radiator to dry off. For obvious reasons, I dont keep a spare pair of socks or shoes in the office (although I might start doing so now!), so when the time came to finish work, I put carrier bags around my feet so that they wouldnt get any wetter. I walked back to the shop (i dont have a car), (still with my carrier bags on my feet!) the SA was sat on a stool in the corner, wasnt really that interested in my complaint and told me to choose "any other pair". As this was the 2nd time I had to take them back, I didnt want another pair of the same, so chose a different pair, with £5 difference. I must stress that the only reason I chose another pair was that I could hardly go home either with no shoes on or soaking wet feet

Anyway, the SA told me that several of the staff had had the same problem but that they had put it down to them going up and down ladders. The only other person to have taken the same boots back was me. She was most insistent that I paid the difference, and I had no choice really! She said more than once that as she didnt make the shoes, she was not interested in the problem with them, and that they didnt ever guarantee that their shoes would be waterproof! My reply was that for the price, I didnt expect them to be either but I did expect them to last for more than 10 days!

I am trying to write a letter to the head office now, as I am still so cross, and my feet are still drying out!!!

Thanks for getting this far. I'm off for a cup of tea :j

QoC

PS I am cross for other people as well, as the shop is in a less affluent area, and as my user name suggests, I like cheap stuff. But I dont like it of rubbish quality and will not be using that store again, and will be telling my friends who do use that shop to think twice before using it

  • I made the mistake of buying a pair of shoes from Shoe Zone - They came apart within a week, I took them back and went and bought another pair from another shop. Sometimes you just have to pay extra for quality!

As for the OP, I don't know why you did not ask for your money back when you took back the first pair.

I have a pair of shoes from Shoe Zone that i've had for about 3/4 years and are worn on a regular basis and they're still going strong!

Perhaps it is just that particular style of shoe that has a problem, see how the replacement pair goes.

thank you both- I didnt ask for a refund off the 1st pair as i was happy to accept that things do go wrong from time to time.

I also have shoe zone shoes that have lasted for a couple of years with ultra regular use, but this just naffed me off somewhat!

    What exactly is your complaint?

That they didnt give you some extra cash when they met their legal obligations and replaced your faulty boots?

just to update- i had a phone call today from one of the retail managers, they are going to deal with the rude/offish SA, and keep an eye on the batch. I was happy just to have had my complaint acknowledged. They are also sending some vouchers as well, which I will be passing on to charity.

    Thanks for reading my rant!

ive had crap shoes from there and one wonderful pair that are going strong about 5 years on, but i dont wear them much.

ive had crap shoes from primark also and then great ones as well. im heartbroken my 3 year old boots from there are slowly giving up the ghost. they leak in the rain. i love them.

you buys cheap you get cheap im afraid. i get the kids shoe zone shoes to knock about in @ nursery, they scuff within a day. if they wore clarkes [i refuse to pay shop prices for clarkes] and they ruined within a week id be furious
There's someone in my head, but it's not me
