Unused Driving Instructors course - help!
I have a question I hope someone may have an answer to?
A couple of years ago I paid for a driving instructors course with RED Driving school and duly spent all my travelling time to and from work swatting for stage 1, the theory exam. At about the time I was going to book my theory test I received an unexpected and lucrative promotion at work. The instructor course has now spent the rest of the time unused and untaken.
I am now happy in my work and have no need to train as a driving instructor but the course is still sitting there unused.
My question is this, RED Driving scholl have said its fine to "transfer" the course to someone else as I have taken no modules and effectively not used anything I paid for yet except the books etc... Where could I offload this to someone at a discount?
Any help most gratefully received, it seems a waste to have it and not use it. There must be someone out there who wants to be a driving instructor but cant afford the course?
Many Thanks,
DasVictim

i would move this to somewhere that deals with contracts, just because its to do with learning to drive doesnt mean it should be in the motoring section0

It would be against the rules of MSE for you to offer it for sale on these boards but I agree with you that this must have a value. Ebay is an obvious choice but an advert in your local free newspaper could well secure a buyer for little advertising cost."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

There are a few posts about RED Driving school on MSE.
This one is the most positive post of all, the rest give it a complete slating.
I very much doubt anyone who researches RED will buy this course from you.
A few links but a quick google will reveal many many more.

You could try selling it on ebay or have a look at http://www.ukdic.co.uk/phpBB3/index.php and see if you can unload it on their website. Although RED get a lot of bad press (they used to trade under TIC or The Instructor College) they do what they say on the tin although a rather expensive one. I'm sure you'll sell it if you advertise at the right price.0 -
Do you live in Swindon by any chance? I keep seeing ads in the local shops for someone trying to sell a driving instructor course.0

You'll be lucky to give it away.
No-one in their right mind in this economic climate should be training for self-employment where you barely keep your head above water. The income is rubbish and inconsistent and the running of the business very stressful indeed. They never tell you that on the "earn £30k!!!" ads.
If anyone is in a 9 to 5 job earning a salary that's guaranteed at the end of the month, my advice is to stick at it. Becoming a driving instructor is not recommended if you have mortgage/family commitments.
Good luck if you manage to offload the training onto some poor unsuspecting victim, but please advise them not to take up the franchise with Red after qualifying (IF they qualify) as it's a move they could live to regret.0 -
Thanks for the advice guys/gals.
Much of what you say I already know, I wasn't aware that RED were THAT bad but hey. I just hope I can flog the course to someone and recoup some of my money.
Thanks again

Try Gumtree, eBay, eBid etc, and then try joining a few random car owners forums as you may strike lucky.
