AA Revenue Services

Options
Good afternoon everyone,

Just wondered if anybody had come across this company before.

I've logged into my bank account this afternoon to see that they have taken a payment of £49.

This reminded me that this happened a few months back, but for £63. Si i've called the bank right away as it jogged my memory that they never sorted it last time .
So i've called Abbey again, gone thro the whole story explaining this happened a few months back, wasn't resolved and i clean forgot about it. They have said that they will now put the paperwork to claim it back as fraud in the post (what they said last time too). So i have to wait 7 days to get the paperwork - abbey are useless when it comes to following through from phone calls so i'm not holding my breathe lol

however, decided to have a look around the net to try and source who was taking the funds, all that shows up is a balliff who has a disclaimer on his page saying that they aren't associated and a number for the AA motor group.
i've called AA motor group and asked them waht their payments whill show as on a bank statement (only because i had car insurance with them a few years back and thought maybe it could be an error on their part) but they have confirmed that it isn't them.

So have anyone from MSE heard of these theivings gits before?

I have had a transaction on my statement
    31/12/09 AA REVENUE SERVICES 0870 5444 444GB £49.00

I have reported it by phone to my credit card company and they are sending me forms to fill out, should I want to make a claim.

One year ago I did actually join the Automobile Association for breakdown cover, paid by the same credit card, but the entry on my statement appeared then as 31/12/08 AA MEMBERSHIP/CONTINOU BASINGSTOKE GB £29.00

I have emailed the AA motoring organisation to clarify whether this latest £49 entry is theirs, as my membership should have been canceled.

An additional interesting point is that my credit card company sent me a letter at the end of November 2009 which contained the information "A recent review of your account has highlighted a small fraud risk...","A block has been placed on your card, meaning any attempted transactions using your current card number will be declined. Please destroy this card...a new card will be issued to you..." So I will complain to the credit card company that even though I was issued with a new card number, the AA Revenue Services £49 transaction on 31/12/09 still managed to go through on a supposedly canceled card.

Will let you know the outcome...

AA REVENUE SERVICES is the AA motoring organisation taking annual payments via a Continous Authority Transaction from my credit card. Unfortunately I have discoverd that Continous Authority Transactions can still be debited from the credit card even if the credit card is no longer valid/expired/canceled/lost according to the terms & conditions of the card!

There are other discussions in this forum discussing the perils of agreeing to C.A.T.s on credit cards.

Im pretty disgusted with Citi Card as they are refusing to refund me even though their letter stated "all transactions would be declined if attempted on the blocked card".

Very disappointed that after several months of waiting, the FSA have ruled in Citicard's favour that Citicard can allow an AA REVENUE SERVICES payment to go through on my blocked/canceled card. Be very aware that when you grant continous payment authority via your credit card to an organisation such as the AA, if you do not get the AA to cancel that authority, future payments will still go through even after your card has expired/been blocked/canceled etc! Not right is it?!

The FSA dont handle consumer complaints. I'm surprised they offered any opinion. Normally they leave complaints to the FOS.

However, the outcome is exactly what would be expected. It has nothing to do with AA and Citi have complied with the rules. This is how continuous payment agreements work.

    Why?

No payment method cancels agreements if you cancel the payment method. You just build up a debt. i.e. cancelling a direct debit does not cancel the thing you are paying.
