Gas bolier thermostat - which setting???

Hi all, hopefully this is the right place to ask:D.

I have moved into a new house with a sealed CH system. The boiler is a Baxi 2 Solo 35 (I think). There is a knob numbered between 1 - 6 which I believe is the boilers own thermostat. I have timer controls for CH/HW, a room thermostat in the hallway, and TRV's on all radiators - So what's the use of the bolier thermostat?

Sorry if this is a simple question!

The boiler thermostat controls the temperature of the water the boiler produces.

This would be a lot higher than the temperature of any room ;)

The hotter the water in the radiators, the quicker the room will reach the desired temperature.

Would it therefore be better to have the boiler on a low setting if the radiators would also be at a low setting?

Boiler temperature should be high enough so you can't hold your hand on the radiators for more than a few seconds.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
