How much longer has your partner got left on contributions based JSA?

Did you take out your Student Loan as recommended in your earlier thread?

You have not answered Oldernotwiser's question - have you taken out your full Student Finance entitlement?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • DMG I get the impression that you are trying to make things difficult for me. Olderthanwiser said about a student loan that was mentioned in a previosu thread. The only thing mentioned is the bursary to which I replied I receive £800 a month.

I am only asking if I am claiming my full entitlement on everything. Having never done this before, I have no idea who to turn to for advice - may avoid here in the future.

If you will not answer our questions, we cannot give you full answers.

Based on the limited information given, you are receiving your full entitlement.

  • The limited information I have given is the limited income we have.

    Thank you for you answer.
  • Hi

if you get a bursary I am assuming you might be a student nurse, which will give you 25% off your council tax bill automatically each year till you finish. Regardless of housing benefit. We get it and are not on housing benefit.

On your earlier thread, which I was involved in, you said that you were going to switch to the degree course from the DipHE and were enquiring about taking out a Student Loan. This was why I asked about it as I wondered whether you did go down this route.

The reason why I asked about the length of time your partner has been on contributions based JSA is because, after 26 weeks, this will switch to being means tested JSA and will be assessed on your student funding (including the loan, if you were eligible for it, whether you took it out or not).

Your income would appear to be more than ours - and with respect, we have worked far longer and paid far more in taxes AND brought up a family of four*, all of whom are now working and paying taxes.

I would suggest that if you find your income insufficient to cover your outgoings that you do the same as I am doing - look for some part-time work.

    I wish you success!

Could you not work part time or your partner that way if its over 16 hours you might get some tax credits

Also as DMG you might have to cut back on spending. SKY/mobiles etc are a luxury assuming you have either or both/ Get rid fo car if you have one and can do without, they bleed you dry

Shop for deals like BOGOF etcs and use cashback web sites for deals on shopping/service when the need arises
