Yep, most cupboards would be held with screws and would come away without leaving any trace (other than a couple of empty screw holes to fill)
If it was glued to the wall then it becomes one of those jobs where it could cause damage no matter how carefully it is removed.

I agree it is probably not the fault of the fitters...but it may be worth asking them if they can fix the issue for an agreed price. It would save getting someone else in to do a relatively small job that they may charge you a day's work for.
If the area of damage is not huge you might be able to get a decorator to fill it in rather than replaster the wall0
