A brain tumor can be very unpredictable.
To give an example, my neighbour had a brain tumor, and while she was ok to speak to, she would then start to lose where she was. She would suddenly wake up and walk out in her night dress to the end of the road and into the main A road with lorries screaching to a halt.
She would then become paranoid and start phoning the fire brigade saying a relative had locked her in and needed rescuing.
It became very distressing to see.
So while I do think it is early days I wouldn't necessarily push for her to return to her home until you are really sure medically she is able.
She may well know your name, talk about familiar things, but sometimes someone might be more poorly than they look on the outside.
I wonder if it is possible for someone to live with her, if she does go home, even if it is just temporary, just to assess how she is.

she would never be able to have someone live with her as she lives in charity sheltered housing and her flat is really really small, we are just taking one day at a time and hoping for the best tho she is 86, she is having a lot of tests at the moment and we are just going to have to wait and see.0

Hello Julie - when your gran is fit to be discharged from hospital a Discharge Plan will be drawn up. This covers what her needs are and how they can be met, which may mean her returning to her own home with intensive support, moving into residential care or something else. If your gran is able to convey what she wants, all well and good. If she's unable to do that then matters can be decided for her with input from the family, which is your uncle and you. HTH.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Just so you are also aware, hospital can play about with discharge plans.
Twice different hospitals sent my monther home with friends who said they could make sure she was OK. In one case she needed daily visits from the District Nurse, which had not been arranged and when she was released on a Friday, I had to drive 200 miles to look after her at the weekend. The GP was furious. In the other case, they had been told that the heating was broken and not due for repair until the next week but still sent her home to an unheated house.
So make sure your uncle understands what can happen.
The difficulty may be that nan is in receipt of housing benefit and you need to know how long she can stay in hospital before that is stopped. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
