Transferring HDV from tape to computer

I have recorded a wedding video using a HDV camera in 1080i and now have HD miniDV tapes which I would like to transfer to computer in HD for further editing.
My video editing software allows me to save files as MPEG-2. But is this the same as HD?? i.e if I playback the MPEG-2 file on a HD television, will it display in 1080i?
