Broken Boiler Not Yet 3 Years Old

Hi! I'm not sure if you can offer me any advice but I'm going to ask anyway. Basically my boiler has gone - there's no power to it and the fuse has been tested. It's outside of it's warranty but isn't yet 3 years old and I stupidly got never got around to taking out any cover. It's and Ideal Isars HE35 and it's not the first problem we've had with it; first the people fitting it piped it up the wrong way. Then it kept making loud banging noises when firing so they changed some sort of plug (vague, I know). The banging noise continued so they tested for inhibitor in the system and said if not it could have damaged the heater exchange...anyway, there was none and they changed it in February and everything has been fine until yesterday when we lost power to it!

Do you think that any of that could have damaged the boiler in such a way to lose power? And is there anyway of getting the money back Im going to have to fork out??!! Thanks in advance for any advice/comments!

If it is loss of power to the boiler, then the problems you have had are irrelevant. If it is loss of power within the boiler, then the previous issues are probably still irrelevant.

Don't kick yourself for not taking out cover, it really is not necessary. You would be better off finding a small gas installer who you trust and getting him to sort the problem and do all your boiler work.

  • with a ideal isar its one of the few boilers out there that you want as much cover as possible.
A common fault with the isar is fans blowing pcbs. You cheapest option is more than likely going to get British gas on a fixed price repair as the cost of the boards is very expensive.
