Headphone jack problem in laptop

ive been running external speakers out of my Vaio laptop for months, but the other week it became difficult to get the speakers to work with the laptop... its like theres no connection, i think the connection pins inside the headphone jack might have got bent, it would have been easy for the lead to get tugged.
My laptops still under warantee, but i dont really want to send it away, anyone know of any solutions?
Its definetly not the speakers cos ive tried another set.
any ideas appreciated.
thanks

If it's still under warranty it's probably best to get them to sort it out, if the headphone socket has gone it's likely a soldering job and I woudn't want to risk that on a laptop.0

nah, im not going to open it, sony might try and claim that ive breached the warranty terms
looks like i get to lose my laptop for a week

If it's physically damaged it won't be covered by the warranty.0

what do you mean if its physically damaged it wont be covered? why wouldnt it be?0

If you crash your car it's not covered by the warranty is it? You need a seperate insurance cover, "tugging" the lead could cause damage to the socket, it is not a failing of the component but an accident and therefore not covered by the warranty.0
